Curtis H. Troester, 90, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. 

He was born on Oct. 9, 1931, the son of Harold and Zala (Brown) Troester. He grew up farming in Northeast Iowa and graduated from Monona High School. He then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Curtis married Wilma Wilke and four children were born to this union. After his service, he returned home to farm and drive a semi-truck for Moore Transportation where he stayed until he retired at the age of 84. He later married Karla Hedeman on Oct 11, 1980, at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien. He loved bowling and had even bowled a 300, or a perfect game. He also enjoyed golf and spending time on the boat, fishing with family and friends. During his time in the Navy, he won competitions on the Naval Skeet Shoot Team. He was quiet and observant, never missing a beat while keeping up with his family. 

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karla; his children, Cindy (Mike Kozelka) Jones, Rick (Gloria), Randy (Julie), Lisa (Gary Brockway) Davis, Lori (Kevin) Rink, and David (Anna); his brothers, Herbert (Theresa), and LaVerne (Dolly) Troester, and sisters, Rita Willer and Sharlene (Stan) Milewsky; son-in-law, John Klocker; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sonja Klocker; his sister, Karen Standorf and her husband, Harlan; brother-in-law, Larry Willer and sister-in-law, Elaine Troester. 

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 7, at 12 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Deacon Pat Malanaphy officiating with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Military honors will be accorded graveside by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.
