Alan Ray Fintel, 62, of rural Paullina passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at his residence.

Memorial services were Saturday, April 30, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina, conducted by Rev. Donald Meyer. A celebration of life followed at the Lodge at Paullina Lake.

Burial was at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.

Alan was brought into this world on Jan. 19, 1960, in Sioux City. He was the son of Marvin and Alice (Tait) Fintel. Alan was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. 

Alan enjoyed being amongst nature and outdoors which brought him on many excursions throughout his life. He especially enjoyed his bear hunting expeditions. Alan shared his wild game kills with the many friends he encountered. 

His free spirit took him on many travels with his beloved Harley’s enjoying the scenic routes throughout the country. He helped farm the family land for over 25 years. 

Alan is survived by his four children, Leshia Woodford, Redwood Falls, Minn., Shonna (John) Keogh, Alexandria, Minn., Nichole (Daniel) Fintel Jacobs, Paullina, Joshua Fintel, Paullina; six grandchildren, Kaylee Jacobs, Anna Van Riesen, Jack Keogh, Sydney Keogh, Emercyn Woodford, and Brenna Jacobs; father, Marvin Fintel; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Tim Drenkowl; many nieces and nephews: Brandon and Brent Merley, the Cummings family: Marisa, Kris, John, Andrea, Katie, Austin, and Adam along with aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His passion for life has brought him many cherished friendships throughout his journey. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice (Tait) Fintel and his brother, Michael Cummings.

To honor Alan’s love of nature, all monetary gifts will be donated to the Prairie Heritage Center in Petersen.
