David Adam Pierschbacher, 46, of Greeley, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.

Visitation was Tuesday, May 10, at the Greeley Fire Department in Greeley and before services.

Funeral services were Wednesday, May 11, at the fire department, conducted by Pastor Mike Jackson and Rev. Neil Hofer.

Interment with Fireman Final Call: at Grant View Cemetery – Greeley.

Dave was born on Dec. 15, 1975, in Chariton, the son of David Sr. and Linda (Thorne) Pierschbacher. When he was young, Dave’s family moved to Waterloo. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Lauren Call. Dave graduated from Cedar Falls High School and then attended Hawkeye Community College earning an Associate Degree in Computer Programming. Dave then attended the University of Northern Iowa. 

On July 10, 1999, Dave was united in marriage to Kari Tibbott at her parents’ farm near Greeley. Three children were born to this union. After their marriage, Dave and Kari made their home in rural Greeley at her grandparents’ farm. Dave began his 22-year career at Community Savings Bank and was the Vice President of Information Systems/Operations for the bank. 

Dave joined the Greeley Fire Department in June of 2000. He volunteered in many areas. He was a Firefighter I and II, and also became a Firefighter and CPR Instructor. Dave became the Greeley Fire Chief in January 2006, which he served as until the time of his death. Dave was an EMT, serving on the Greeley, Edgewood, and Guttenberg Ambulances. He was also an Elk Township Trustee. Dave enjoyed coaching soccer, Little League baseball, Ed-Co youth football, and junior high football. 

Dave’s special love was for his kids and wife. He especially enjoyed attending the kids’ various activities, pontoon rides on the Mississippi River, family vacations, and camping. Whether he was responding to fire or EMS calls, helping a neighbor, or scooping ice cream, Dave never turned down an opportunity to help.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Kari Pierschbacher of Greeley; three children, Megan, Ben, and Laura, all at home; his mother, Linda (Lauren) Call of Waterloo; his father, David (Lori) Pierschbacher, Sr. of Peoria, Ill.; mother-in-law, Sandy (Terry) Frommelt of Greeley; one brother, Jason (Tiffany) Pierschbacher of Clarksville, Tenn.; a sister, Kristy (Jay) Lowenberg of Kalona; his grandmother, Betty Pierschbacher of Chariton; brothers-and sister-in-law, Bill (Jana) Tibbott of Cedar Rapids, Caprina (Aaron) Abt of Galena, Ill., and Jeremiah (Kristy) Frommelt of Harmony, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bruce Tibbott; grandparents, Gib and Ruth Call, Frank Thorne, and Dwight Pierschbacher; and an uncle, Terry Thorne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Greeley Fire Department, P.O. Box 164, Greeley, Iowa 52050.
