Guttenberg man named to UMGC post
Dan Kuempel of Guttenberg has been appointed the new Executive Director by the board of the Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation
The Executive Director is responsible for the administration of the Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation grant giving program and operational policies adopted by the board. This position serves as a representative for the UMGC Board by promoting the mission of the organization and gaming’s benefit to the area.
Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the enrichment of Clayton County through the dispersion of funds acquired from the adjusted gross receipts of the Casino Queen, Marquette. The group awards these funds to qualifying tax-exempt organizations or those working in cooperation with local governments in Clayton County who cultivate projects that meet established criteria. These projects should encourage economic development, community betterment, improved cultural and recreational activity facilities, programs or activities that foster enhanced educational experiences for youth, or improve the overall quality of life for county residents.
In 2021 grants totaling $691,110 were dispersed to area non-profits.
Each year, grant applications are accepted by UMGC from non-profit organizations, government entities, and educational facilities. Requests may be for projects or programs in Clayton County or may be from outside the county if they can demonstrate a direct benefit to the residents of Clayton County.
