Primary election is Tuesday, June 7

On June 7, registered Democrats and Republicans in Clayton County will head to the polls to choose their party's nominees for the general election in November.
Voters in a primary election must register as a Democrat or Republican in order to choose their respective party's candidates.
Republican ballot
The only contested GOP race at the county level is for two vacant seats on the Clayton County Board of Supervisors. Three candidates are vying for the two seats: Steve Doeppke (incumbent), Doug Reimer and Adam Meyer.
County Attorney Zach Herrmann, County Recorder Sue Meyer and County Treasurer Linda Zuercher are running unopposed on the Republican ticket. All are incumbents.
Incumbent Ann Osmundson is running unopposed on the Republican ticket for State Representative for District 64.
Democratic ballot
Lester Simons is the lone Democratic candidate for a seat on the Clayton County Board of Supervisors.
No Democrats filed for the office of County Attorney, County Recorder and County Treasurer.
No Democratic candidates filed for State Representative for District 64.

In the primary race for U.S. Senator from Iowa, Republican voters will chose between Jim Carlin and Charles Grassley. Democratic candidates are Abby Finkenauer, Michael Franken and Glenn Hurst.
In the race for U.S. House of Representatives, District 2, Republican Ashley Hinson and Democrat Liz Mathis are running unopposed on the primary ballot.
The only contested primary races for state office are for Secretary of State with Democrats Joel Miller and Eric Van Lancker running, and Auditor of State with two GOP candidates — Todd Halibur and Mary Ann Hanusa.
