Susan E. Weller

Susan Eln Weller passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022. She was with her immediate family in San Diego, Calif. Susan was born Nov. 29, 1943, in Perry. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1962. She worked as an administrator at University of Iowa Hospital. In 1973, she moved to San Diego with her husband Terry and sons, Ted and Brian, resuming her career in hospital administration. She and Terry lived in San Diego until 1987. From 1987 to 2005, Susan and Terry lived in Detroit, Cleveland, Dallas, San Francisco etc., while establishing a part-time residence at the Weller family farm in National. From 2005 to 2021, they spent summers in Iowa and winters in San Diego. 

Susan was proud of having visited every U.S. state except Alaska. Susan was a fervent gardener, specializing in growing and canning tomatoes, pickles and hot peppers. She also was a primary force behind a Christmas tree farm, pumpkin patch and green house where she grew plants and starts for the northeast Iowa community. But, perhaps the not-so-secret reason for these operations were the many visitors, especially children, that they brought to the farm. There is nothing Susan loved more than to provide treats to children for every holiday on the calendar. Similarly, she never missed the birthdays of friends and family, and often even acquaintances, brightening their day with a card and handwritten note. Susan touched the lives of so many people, from so many states, as a friend, relative, confidante or simply a positive force in their life. She is greatly missed by so many. 

Susan is survived by her husband, Terry, her son Brian, her son Ted, his wife Katie and their children, Milo and Eva.
