Mary Patricia Grady of Waterloo, formerly of the McGregor/Monona area, died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 19, at Ravenwood Specialty Center in Waterloo. Pat, as she wanted to be called, was born Jan. 28, 1951, to Raymond and Frances (Ambrose) Grady. She grew up on the farm, always tagging along after her dad. She graduated from MarMac High School in 1969. Pat was a proud veteran, having served eight years in the U.S. Army as a medical lab technician. She was honored to receive her Quilt of Valor. She treasured it immensely. Pat also worked several years delivering mail in Clayton County.

Pat always had a ready smile and a hello for everyone she met, and everyone close to her knew she loved her Ice Mountain water. She loved to do crafts such as beadwork and latchhook. She also loved to fish, not getting out near as much as she would have liked. She also enjoyed gardening. Pat loved all animals, especially her beloved kitties.

Pat is survived by a number of first cousins, Caroline Drahn, Bill (Carol) Grady, Sharon Meisner, Mary (Gordon) Krambeer, Louis Mark (Mary Ann) Grady, Bernard Grady, Virginia (Mike) Zimmerman, Allan (Aricelli) Grady, Glen (Cheryl) Grady, Ellen (John) Mans, Peter (Jeaninne) Grady and Marian Grady. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her special friend Margie Goodrow, her brother Larry and an infant brother James, and several cousins.

The family wishes to thank Garden View in Monona, Strawberry Point Lutheran Home and Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo for their wonderful care and concern for Pat over the years.

A mass of celebration was held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Monona on Sept. 27, with Father Martin Coolidge presiding, and co-celebrated with Father Bernard Grady. Visitation was before the service. Burial will be at a later date. She will be buried in St. Patrick Cemetery next to her parents and siblings.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona is assisting the family with arrangements.
