Mr. Anonymous pays for everyone’s groceries for two hours at local Aldi’s

A very generous and anonymous man bought the groceries for all of the customers at Aldi’s of Prairie du Chien on a recent Tuesday for a two-hour period.
“I gave him a big hug, but he wouldn’t say his name,” said Barbara Henkley of McGregor who was one of the lucky shoppers. “He said, ‘You can call me Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny, whichever you want.’”
Henkley said the man, who was in his 60s, paid for everything with his credit card for the unsuspecting and disbelieving customers.
“Everyone was so shocked he was paying for their groceries,” said Henkley. “I had goose bumps because I couldn’t believe it. Everybody was very thankful.”
Henkley said there may have been 50 to 100 customers during that time frame, all unaware of what was going on until they got to the checkout.
“There are still nice people in the world,” said Henkley. “I hope everyone pays it forward.”
Henkley said she happened to have more than $100 worth of groceries that day.
“It’s really nice to hear something good instead of bad,” said Henkley.
