Eight Bulldog harriers post season personal best times

Eight of 13 MFL MarMac cross country runners who competed in the Sept. 27 Jesup Invitational posted season personal best times. They did it against a field of 30 teams, including over 140 participants in the girls race and over 160 for the boys.
Sophomore Jacob Schellhorn medaled thanks to a fourth-place time of 16:56. GCGR Grundy Center runner Kaden Lynch crossed in 16:11 to take the top spot.
Will Koether finished 72nd for the Bulldogs, in a time of 19:05, followed closely by a 19:08 from Tucker Ruff, who was 77th. Sawyer Keehner came in 95th at 19:23 and Logan Ross placed 163rd after running the course in 25:13.
The MFL MarMac boys combined for a score of 400, putting them 17th of 24 complete teams. Waukon won the meet with an 84.
In the girls race, the Bulldogs finished with a similar 408, which was good for 16th place. The top spot went to Center Point-Urbana with 84.
Freshman Cora Keehner was the team’s top individual finisher, with a 21:45 time propelling her to 39th. Clare Grau turned in a 22:29 for 55th place, Evelyn Ruff was 105th at 24:16 and Emma Koether was 124th at 25:22. Kaylee Nuehring and Mariah Moser crossed the finish line a respective 130th and 131st with times of 25:48 and 25:49.
The Bulldogs’ Oct. 4 meet at South Winneshiek will be their last before the conference meet at Tri City Golf Course in Luana on Oct. 13.
