Watermain being replaced

Work is continuing on the replacement of the watermain along Villa Louis Road.

The watermain is being replaced along Villa Louis Road from Blackhawk Avenue to the grain terminal. 

Prairie du Chien City Administrator Chad Abram said the roadway of Villa Louis Road will be replaced next spring, so the watermain is being replaced now. 

Abram said the watermain is being replaced through a Safe Water Drinking Loan from the Wisconsin DNR. The loan is for $420,309.75.

Abram also said the roadway will be replaced next spring through an 80-20 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in which the DOT pays for 80 percent of the cost and the city pays for 20 percent.

The DOT grant for the road construction in 2023 is $1,116,344 the city’s match is $309,661.
