Alan Frederick Steiber, born Aug. 17, 1948 in Waukon, Iowa and residing much of his life in Lansing, Iowa passed away on Oct. 07, 2022.

He was a 1966 graduate from Kee High School, attended WWTC and Winona State University. During his lifetime he owned and operated a Lansing service station and worked 42 years at the Lansing Interstate Power Company/Alliant Energy. During his retirement years he was able to assist his wife with raising dogs and horses. His infectious smile and robust personality lives on through his friends and family. An ever present member of the Lansing community, notably seen driving RV-sized cars, he enjoyed camping and horseback riding, particularly if those activities led him to South Dakota. Alan had a natural willingness to help anyone in their time of need. At home he enjoyed working on, but never seeming to completely fix historic (old) cars. He was always quick to start and long to end a story, his family and friends will always feel his presence.

He is survived by his wife, Terisa (Winters) Steiber, his children from his first marriage (Esther Steiber-Whitney, deceased 1993), Kit (Steiber) Baloun, Seth Steiber, Aja (Steiber) Sickles, and son Luke Steiber; his grandchildren, Lilian, Samuel, Thomas, Juni, Eli, Autumn, Maverick, Zazie; and siblings Byron Steiber, Cheryl (Steiber) Blythe and Daryl Steiber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Steiber and Marjorie (Maust) Steiber, and his brother Eric Steiber.

A Celebration of Alan’s life will be held Nov. 6, 2022 from 11 - 4 pm at The Old Rossville Store, 851 Volney Road,Waukon. In lieu of flowers the Alan Steiber Memorial has been established.
