Thomas “Tom” William Kraus, 71, of Osterdock, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.

Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 9, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Michael Ashman.

Interment was at Ceres Cemetery.

Tom was born on June 10, 1951, the son of Lincoln and Eunice (Lundt) Kraus.

He loved to attend family gatherings. He practically lived outside as a dedicated life-long farmer. In addition to farming, he made many friends while working at Kann Manufacturing and Nutrien Ag Solutions. He was an active volunteer with the Northeast Iowa Farm Antique Association, Ceres Church and Cemetery Board. He was very active in various church committees at St. John’s. Over the last few years, he enjoyed driving school bus, as he was just as much a grandpa to those children as he was to his own. Anything he could find to “tinker” with, fix, or design himself was enjoyment.

Tom will be forever loved and cherished by his wife of over 46 years, Marcia; children, Dan (Shelly) Kraus, John (Sharon) Kraus, Jenny (Bob) Abbott and Sarah (Jesse) Harbaugh; seven grandchildren, Makayla and Kyle Kraus, Keisha (DJ) Anderegg, Trevor Harbaugh (Lindsey Kramer), Avery, Chase and Zander Harbaugh. He was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Anna May Anderegg and Grayson Harbaugh. Yet to bless this family is another grandchild and great-grandchild; siblings, Karen (John) Anderegg, Diane Kraus, David (Renae) Kraus, Mary Van Houten, Ruth (Leon) Rueter, Paul Kraus and Mark Kraus; sister-in-law, Sally Henkes and many other relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law; mother-in-law; three brothers, Daniel Kraus in 1969, John Kraus in 1976 and Curtis in 2021; brother-in-law, Kevin Van Houten in 2019; sister-in-law, Diane Henkes in 2001 and granddaughter, Kendra Harbaugh in 1993.
