Adrian White, herbalist and owner/operator of Jupiter Ridge Farm, has published her first book, "Herbalism: Plants & Potions That Heal." (Photo submitted)

By Caroline Rosacker

Adrian White is an herbalist, farmer, author,  and freelance writer specializing in, and researching topics of food, agriculture, health, nutrition, herbalism, farming, gardening, and sustainability.

Adrian is owner/operator of Jupiter Ridge Farm, located just outside of Garber in rural Clayton County. She produces naturally grown (to organic standards and Certified Naturally Grown standards) diverse vegetables, gourmet and medicinal mushrooms, culinary and medicinal herbs, perennials, and healing, edible, victual herbal products.

Adrian has recently published her first book, Herbalism: Plants & Potions That Heal. "My book is a condensed introduction to the entire world of herbalism and becoming a practicing herbalist, for yourself or your community," she explained. "It gives you a taste of all you must learn and all you will need to know; a book ideal for beginners, with some lovely tidbits and morsels that I think already experienced herbalists will appreciate as well."

Arcturus Publishing Co. approached Adrian, who has been covering herbalism through her writing for almost a decade, to write the book for them.  "I am inspired to research herbalism and health-related information and write about it on a weekly basis, " she shared. "This book is the product of that research as well as the two studying programs on herbalism that I completed with fantastic herbalist teachers, and contemporary herbalists I continue to talk with and learn from regularly. I have journals and notebooks heaping with anecdotes and research on the plants that have 'struck' me with their abilities most."

Adrian's writing has also been published in Rodale’s Organic Life and Healthline, with bylines in The Guardian, Civil Eats, Good Housekeeping, Precision Ag, and many other publications and websites on the subjects of sustainable agriculture, health, herbalism, and other subjects. She also contributed a first-person farmer’s essay about the importance of organic farming for an educational textbook titled Organic Food and Farming: A Reference Handbook by ABC-CLIO.

The well-researched herbalist has also collaborated with herbal supplement companies. "I've also written lots of informational and research-based articles and web content for herbal supplement companies online, and one research led to help promote and write about their products," she noted. "I've also consulted a couple herbal supplement companies as well on their products for startup."

Herbalism: Plants & Potions That Heal  is available online and in bookstores wherever books are sold.
