Blackhawk wrestling team wins the Howard/Manley duals in East Troy

On Saturday, December 3rd the #1 ranked in the State PDC wrestling Blackhawks traveled to East Troy to open up their season in the Howard/Manley duals. East Troy is a 12 team tournament, split into three pools to determine advancement. PDC would open with Kenosha Indian Trail and open with a big 63-12 win. Recording pins were Rhett Koenig, Drew Hird, Brogan Brewer, Jack Simmons, and Mason Ihde. The Hawks would take on Waterford in round two. It would be much of the same, as the Hawks would prevail 63-6. Getting pins for the Hawks were Drew Hird, Luke Kramer, Jeremiah Avery, Maddox Cejka, Brogan Brewer, and Blake Thiry. In the final round of their pool the Hawks would dominate East Troy 66-12. Recording falls for the Hawks were Ryder Koenig, Rhett Koenig, Drew Hird, Luke Kramer, Jeremiah Avery, Maddox Cejka, Brogan Brewer, Blake Thiry, and Ty Wagner. By winning their pool, the Hawks advance to the championship pool with Mukwonago and Lodi. First up would be Mukwonago, who is ranked as high as #5 in the D1 State. The Hawks would step up to the challenge and come away with an exciting 45-26 win. Leading the way with pins were Drake Ingham, Ryder Koenig, Rhett Koenig, Drew Hird, Luke Kramer, Jeremiah Avery, and Blake Thiry. The win would set up a showdown with rival Lodi for 1st place. In a back and forth dual, the Hawks would bring home the trophy with a 40-30 victory. Getting pins were Ryder Koenig, Rhett Koenig, Jeremiah Avery, Maddox Cejka, and Blake Thiry. Leading the way on the day by winning all five of their matches were: Drake Ingham, Ryder Koenig, Rhett Koenig, Drew Hird, Jeremiah Avery, and Blake Thiry.

Next up for the Hawks will be a home non-conference dual with Holmen on Thursday evening at 7:00. On Friday the JV wrestlers will travel to Wisconsin Dells for a 5:00 tournament. On Saturday, the Varsity Hawks will participate in the Devil Duals at Wisconsin Dells with wrestling starting at 9:00. Go Hawks!!
