Emma Lou Gull, 91, longtime Elkport/Garber resident, died on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, after a brief illness, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. Emma was born on May 25, 1931, in Elkport, the daughter of Peter and Amanda (Waterman) Amsden. She was raised and educated in the Elkport area and graduated from Elkport High School in 1948. Emma then went on to study nursing.

 

Emma was a homemaker. She also worked as an adult and child caregiver. Emma was an active longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport. In March, Emma moved to Lincolnwood Assisted Living in Edgewood.

 

Survivors include one son, Steve (Marsha) Gull of Glen Burnie, Md.; and two daughters, Sandra (Keith) Ashline of Littleport and Teresa (Larry) Hoth of Bellevue, Neb.

 

Emma was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd and Carl Amsden.

 

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood.

 

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Mount Harmony Cemetery in rural Garber, with Pastor Mike Jackson officiating.
