Myrna L. Shulka 94, of Prairie du Chien passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Cross Plains, the daughter of Hubert and Eleanor (Wasley) Buechner.  Myrna married Carlos “Chip” Meyer on Oct. 20, 1949, who later preceded her in death in 1956 due to a boating accident. She later married Harold “Fuzz” Shulka on May 5, 1958, who also preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1981. Myrna and Fuzz owned numerous bars and restaurants such as: The Coach, Club One, Oak Grove, Sunset Inn, and Jim’s Bar. Many people knew Myrna as a fun, loving, and sociable person. She was loved by many but most of all by her family. Myrna was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting mushrooms and ginseng.  She was a beloved Wisconsin sports fan. Myrna cherished NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace who gave her a prize possession in which she wore frequently. She was a past member of the Eastman American Legion Auxiliary. 

Myrna is survived by her son Rich (Karen) Shulka, daughters: Pam Myers, Judy Ratz, and Ceil Shulka, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donald Buechner, her husbands, a son John Meyer, and a grandson Chuck Myers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. where a wake scripture will be held at 7 p.m. and at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of departure for the church. 

Myrna’s family encourages attendees to wear their favorite Wisconsin sports or NASCAR apparel for both events. They would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Bluff Haven and Prairie Maison for their compassionate care over the last 5 1/2 years.
