Robert H. Niehaus, 71, of Manchester formerly of Winthrop, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at Regional Medical Center, Manchester.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2-7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15, at Promiseland Winery, 39053 Great River Road, Guttenberg.

Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Manchester assisted the family.

Robert was born June 2, 1951, in Guttenberg, the second son of Dale and Betty Lou (Moser) Niehaus. He graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1969. Robert enlisted in the United States Navy where he served our country proudly. On Feb. 2, 1974, he married Marcia (Thomas) White in Guttenberg. They had two daughters from this marriage, Misti and Melissa.  In 1985 Robert and Marcia were divorced. Shortly after that both Marcia and Robert moved to South Carolina. While attending school Misti and her close friend Terri decided to introduce their parents. On July 4, 1987, Robert married Audrey Mizzell in Lincolnville, S.C. Audrey brought her two daughters and son into the marriage with Robert and his two daughters. From their union another son was born, whom they named Robert.

Robert worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He worked as an over-the-road driver where he would spend time hauling freight across the country. Robert and Audrey moved back to Iowa in 2009 and lived in rural Winthrop. He resumed truck driving and hauled corn and beans for his daughter, Melissa and his son-in-law, Jeff Lindsay. He enjoyed being a part of the Lindsay Farm operation and enjoyed talking about farming even after he had a stroke that made him stop driving the semis. He spent much of his time outdoors fishing, hunting, trapping and enjoyed being out on the water. Robert loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children, Sherry Mueller (Jeff Boeckenstedt) of Greeley, Misti (Seth) Taylor of Manchester, Melissa Lindsay of Manchester, Dusty (Melissa) Mizzell of Dyersville, and Robert (Crystal) Niehaus of Winthrop; grandchildren, Justin (Tony), Cameron, Ashley, Brian, Josh (Hailee), Shaun, Nicole (Jeff), Hunter (Bobbie Jo), Kara, Axel, Seth, Jordan, Chace, Vincent, and Vanessa; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Addison, Amelia, Braelyn, Adeline, Jaxson, Madilynn, and Louella Jo; and siblings, Jim (Connie) Niehaus, Tom (Joyce) Niehaus, Sandy (Marvin) Dean, Bill (Becky) Niehaus, Becky (Gene) Lake, and Linda (Rick) Aulwes.
