William “Bill” Alan Boemecke, 75, of Strawberry Point passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2023, at MercyOne Elkader Medical Center in Elkader.

There are no services planned at this time.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elkader assisted the family.

Bill was born Sept. 5, 1947, to Robert Roy and Lilly May (Hovden) Boemecke in Rockwell City. Bill graduated from high school and attended college.

Throughout the years Bill worked as a foreman in a scrap yard. He enjoyed treasure hunting with his metal detector, collecting coins and playing drums. Bill was a huge music fan and attended 200 concerts between 1967 to 1972.

Surviving Bill are his daughter, Melinda Hauptman (Mike Jennerjohn) of Strawberry Point; four grandchildren, Anna Lahey of Cedar Rapids, Dakota Fratzke of Strawberry Point, Savannah Halva of Ames and Caroline Halva of Egin; one great-grandson, Zayne Lahey of Cedar Rapids; his beloved dog, Wennie; two brothers, Bradley (Wendy) Boemecke of Sacramento, Calif. and Rickey (Mary) Littler of Tampa, Fla. and several nieces and nephews. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Austin Davis and his kids, Betsy and Bart Roughton.
