The Guttenberg Library Foundation has begun making plans for its 2023 Book and Bake Sale to be held Thursday, June 1, from 1 p.m.- 5 p.m., and Friday, June 2, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

"Planning the sale is a sign of spring to me," says Carolyn Clefisch, Foundation president. "This year, we seriously need to rebuild our inventory."

Seek donations

Donations of materials may be brought to the library beginning Wednesday, April 5, through Friday, May 26. If you have more than one or two bags/boxes to drop off, please call the library before you arrive so people can be available to sort and store materials.

 Acceptable donations

Desired donations include clean, recently published fiction and non-fiction, hard-cover and paperback books. Large-print books are always in great demand, as well as puzzles, audio books, CDs, and LPs. Antique and collectible books are also valued. "We are unable to accept damaged, dusty, or mildewed materials," says Clefisch. "Please check through your donations and remove personal items such as notes or bookmarks from between the pages. You might find something you’d like to keep."

No longer accepted

The following list includes items that are no longer accepted:  VCR and cassette tapes, magazines, textbooks, encyclopedias, and outdated travel, computer, political science, and medical materials.

"The Foundation is always greatly appreciative of the community’s support," concluded Clefisch. "More information regarding the bake sale will be forthcoming as dates near."
