Isabel D. Wall

Isabel D. Wall, age 95 of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. She was born on April 18, 1927, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Heisz) Duha and was raised on the farm on Duha Ridge. She attended a teacher’s college in Platteville, Wisc. before going to teach school for several years.
Isabel married August Wall on May 25, 1949, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman. Together they raised their nine children on the family farm on Wall Ridge. August preceded her in death in 1973.
Isabel was always active in 4H and served as club leader for St. Wenceslaus and Wall Ridge. She enjoyed gardening, a good game of cards and playing with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Kathryn Payne, Elaine Gillitzer, Donna (Bruce) Cornwell, Lyle (Robin) Wall, Theresa (Alan) Schuldt, Carl (Laurie) Wall, Judy Wall, and Earl (Angela) Wall; her brother Eldon (Suzanne) Duha; her daughter-in-law Debra Thompson and sisters-in-law Lois and Donna Duha; 34 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Paul Wall; her brothers Francis, Emil, Arnold, Lloyd, Virgil Duha and sisters Caroline Walz, Edith Morovits, and Betty DuCharme; son-in-law Norman Payne; one grandchild Dorian Payne and two great-grandchildren Darius and Julien Wynos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, WI, Rev. Rajendran Anandan officiating with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. where there will be a rosary at 5:00 P.M.
