The MFL MarMac boys track and field team won nine events—and earned nine other top-three finishes—en route to a team title at the April 20 Gary Bottorf Invitational at Kee.

The Bulldogs tallied 120 team points, nearly doubling the 65 from second-place Turkey Valley.

Four of those top-three times came in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Senior Karter Decker placed first in both events, crossing the finish line in a respective 11.21 and 23.05 seconds. Teammate Wyatt Powell’s time of 11.67 seconds earned him third in the 100, while Anthony Bunting cruised to third in the 200 in 25.35 seconds.

Eli Hanson turned in a time of 56.89 seconds in the 400, putting him third. Brent Roe placed 11th in that race and also represented the Bulldogs with a 10th-place mark in the 1600. Keith Anderson came in 10th in the 800 and Jacob Schellhorn’s time of 10:44.46 earned him third in the 3200.

Additionally, Schellhorn was one of two MFL MarMac runners who won a hurdling event. His time of 1:03.41 was tops in the 400, while Tucker Ruff maneuvered the 110-meter hurdles in 20.62 seconds. Carter Streicher leapt to fifth in the 110-meter event and third in the 400.

MFL MarMac runners won half of the six relays they competed in, including the 4x100, where Powell, Carver Blietz-Bentien, Parker Kuehl and Decker combined for a time of 46.19 seconds. Brandon Christofferson, Kade McElwaine, Blietz-Bentien and Kuehl sprinted to first in the 4x200 with an effort of 1:37.66, while Powell, Blietz-Bentien, McElwaine and Christofferson led the field with a 1:45.32 in the sprint medley.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Izayah Streicher, Anderson, Ruff and Carter Streicher just missed out on the top spot, and Hanson, Jaxon Millage, Ruff and Schellhorn finished third in the 4x400. In the distance medley, Koda Warrington, Bunting, Millage and Ruff took fourth.

More top finishes came in the field events, where Kuehl cleared a height of 5-08 feet to claim first in the high jump. Warrington and Hanson were a respective first and fifth in the long jump thanks to distances of 17-04.5 and 16-01 feet.

Aiden Schoulte threw his way to second in the shot put, after hitting 38-07.5 feet, and he did nearly as well in the discus, with a throw of 106-06.5 cementing him in fourth. Hunter Christofferson also competed in both events, taking second in the discus on a throw of 119-01 feet and sixth in the shot on a distance of 36-02.

Two meets are on the Bulldogs’ schedule this week: at Clayton Ridge on April 25, then the Starmont Boys Invite on April 28.
