Kaylin Garbes tied for third against the Trojans, after shooting a 58.

Mackenzie Bachman completed the meet against Turkey Valley with a score of 58, tying her for third place.

Devon Meyer shot a 56 for runner-up honors in MFL MarMac's win over the Trojans.

Morgan Jacobson was part of a three-way tie for third against Turkey Valley. She finished the meet with a 58.

Against Turkey Valley, Mallory Lang rounded out the Bulldogs’ varsity scores with a 70, which tied her for ninth place.

The MFL MarMac girls golf team improved to 8-2 last week with wins over Turkey Valley and Postville.

 

The Bulldogs handily defeated the Trojans 225-265 in a May 1 match-up at Tri City Golf Course in Luana. MFL MarMac accounted for the top five individual scores, including a 53 by meet medalist Kaylee Baker. Fellow freshman Devon Meyer shot a 56 for runner-up honors.

 

Mackenzie Bachman, Morgan Jacobson and Kaylin Garbes all shot 58s to tie for third. Mallory Lang rounded out the Bulldogs’ varsity scores with a 70, which tied her for ninth place.

 

MFL MarMac followed that up with a 218-238 win over Postville on May 4. Pirate Claire Martins came away as meet medalist with a 48, but Meyer claimed second with a 51.

 

Jacobson and Baker both shot 54s, tying for third, while Garbes placed fifth with a 59. Lang and Bachman shot a respective 63 and 67.

 

Heading into the May 9 Upper Iowa Conference meet, only North Fayette Valley (10-1) had  a better record than the Bulldogs. The team also had the second-best nine-hole average in the UIC, at 223.75. NFV’s 212.13 was tops.

 

Individually, Meyer’s 52.63 was the third-best nine-hole average, trailing only the 49.57 by South Winn’s Katrina Hageman and 51.38 put up by Claire Britt of NFV.
