The Central golf season came to a close last week. Following the Upper Iowa Conference meets, no one advanced in postseason play.

In the Upper Iowa Conference boys meet at Big Rock Country Club in Fayette on May 8, Central shot a team score of 412 and placed seventh. At the top of the scoreboard for the Warriors was Brock Eglseder, who shot a 93 to finish 19th, 20 strokes behind the meet winner.

Coming in 29th was Isaac Wellendorf, who put up a 99, as did Isaac Loan. Max Fettkether finished 39th after carding a 114, followed by Marcus Evans in 40th with a 119. Keaton Klingman ended the 18 hole-round with a 137 to finish in 44th.

The second round of golf for the boys last week was the Class 1A sectionals at the Guttenberg Golf and Country Club. As a team, the Warriors finished in fifth place with a 376.

Wellendorf led Central, after shooting a 91 over 18 holes, while Eglseder and Loan both shot a 94. Fettkether was the only other Central golfer to finish under 100, with a score of 97. Evans put up a 109 and Klingman ended with a 126. Individual placements were not provided for this meet.

The girls started last week at Tri City Golf and Country Club in Luana, for their 2023 UIC conference meet. Collectively, the Warriors shot a 494 and finished in seventh place. Central’s top golfer was senior Haley Frieden, who tied for 15th.

Next, the girls traveled to Meadowview Golf and Country Club in Central City for the Class 1A Regional. The Warriors shot a 449 and finished fifth overall.

They were led by Makayla Erickson, who finished the 18-hole round with a 98, placing her seventh—one stroke short of advancing to the next level of postseason play.

With a 105, Frieden was next on the leaderboard for the Warriors, finishing 15th. She was followed by Tessa Sylvester in 22nd after shooting a 113. Maddie Schmidt placed 37th after carding a 133, and right behind her in 38th was Jillian Finley with a 135. Coming in 40th was Caitlyn Druecker, who shot a 140.
