The matchup in Ridge & Valley Conference softball that people had been waiting all season finally took place on back-to-back nights in Wauzeka and it did not disappoint.

Seneca’s Philomena Hall and Wauzeka-Steuben’s Ally Wally combined to put on an absolute pitching masterpiece over seven innings as the two pitchers combined to allow only one hit, one run, and four walks with 26 strikeouts.

Through the first six innings, the only base runners for either team were three Seneca walks scattered through those six innings. Aubrey Wallin got things started with a walk in the top of the third inning but was forced out one batter later thanks to a double play. P. Hall walked with one out in the top of the third inning but was left stranded after back-to-back strike outs by A. Wall. Kylie Chambers drew in a one-out walk in the top of the fourth inning before back-to-back fly outs ended the Royals half inning.

Seneca finally got enough offense going in the top of the seventh inning to put some pressure on the Wauzeka defense. A one-out single by Jorja Clark for the first base hit of the game by either team was followed by Wallin’s second walk of the game. Brigid Hall ran for Clark and was able to advance to second and third during key passed balls during Wallin’s at-bat to put runner’s at first and third base with one out for the Royals. An error by the Wauzeka defense allowed B. Hall to score on a ground out by McKenzie Sime. Ally Wall then retired Lindsey Sime for the third out of the inning. P. Hall retired the Hornets in order in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal the 1-0 win for Seneca, and a perfect game on the mound for herself.
