PdC Blackhawks earn first three wins of season, fall in other matches

Prairie du Chien Volleyball traveled to Richland Center on Thursday, Aug. 31 for their second SWC match of the season and the Hornets prevailed in three sets as they deeated the Hawks 25-8, 25-19, and 25-15.
The Hawks traveled to La Crosse on Saturday, Sept. 2 for the annual Aquinas Invite with the Hawks going 1-3 on the day, including picking up their first match victory of the season with a win over G-E-T in two sets in their first match of the day. The Hawks dropped tough three set matches to Stanley-Boyd (22-25, 25-20, 12-15), and Plum City/Elmwood (25-20, 20-25, 13-15), and then a rematch loss in two sets to G-E-T to wrap up the tournament.
Prairie du Chien returned to conference play on Thursday, Sept. 7 when they traveled to Spring Green to battle the always tough Blackhawks.
The River Valley Blackhawks took the first set by a score of 25-9, but the Prairie du Chien Blackhawks battled back to even the match at 1 set a piece by winning the second set 25-17. River Valley responded to the loss by winning the third set 25-18, and the fourth set 25-23 to win the match 3 sets to 1.
Next up for the Hawks was another invite as the team traveled to Prairie du Sac to compete in the Sauk Prairie Invitational. The Hawks went 1-4 on the day, beating Beloit Memorial in a hard fought match 2-1 (25-15, 19-25, 17-15), before dropping matches to Darlington (10-25, 11-25), Sauk Prairie (20-25, 12-25), Reedsburg (13-25, 17-25), and Beloit Memorial (18-25, 25-22, 6-15).
Next up for the Hawks was a home match vs. Dodgeville on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in which the Hawks fell three sets to one (9-25, 10-25, 25-20, 10-25). PdC volleyball then traveled to Lancaster on Thursday, Sept. 14 with the Hawks dropping the match in four sets (25-20, 17-25, 29-31, 22-25).
Prairie made the quick journey over to Wauzeka on Saturday, Sept. 16 to take on the Hornets in a non-conference match. The Hawks came away with the win as they swept the Hornets in three sets (25-20, 25-12, 25-23).
Prairie du Chien returned to conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 19 to host Platteville as the Hawks began a stretch of three straight home matches. The Hawks host Richland Center on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 7:15 p.m. on their annual Pink Night. The night begins at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction and raffles to help raise money for Alanna Ihde’s battle with breast cancer.
