Constance (Connie) Mara passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, with family by her side. She was 77 years old. Connie was born May 2, 1946, in Prairie Du Chien, WI, to Philip and Jeanie (Lewig) Doll.

She grew up on their family farm and graduated from Wauzeka High School. She went on to attend St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in LaCrosse, WI.  In 1967, she graduated from nursing school and married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Mara.

They raised two children while working in the Rockford, Illinois area.  Connie spent countless hours volunteering with the Phantom Regiment drum and bugle corps and consistently advocating for power tumbling and trampoline as the American Trampoline and Tumbling Association president.

Connie spent her life caring for people as a nurse and as a thoughtful friend. In retirement, Connie liked to stay busy. She could be found on the golf course, in the neonatal intensive care unit comforting babies, crafting and sewing, playing cards, helping others, and at church.

She deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Connie is survived by her son Bryan (Traci) Mara, her daughter Michelle (Matthew) Gasser, her brothers John and David Doll, along with four grandchildren, Kessa and Kennedy Mara and Leon and Leslie Gasser.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her late husband.

A visitation will be held on Feb. 3, 2024, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wauzeka, Wisconsin (711 East Main Street Wauzeka, WI 53826), with mass, burial, and lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Phantom Regiment (regiment.org or 5608 International Drive Rockford, Il 61109).

The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family. www.garrityfuneralhome.com.
