Mary K. Sprosty, age 49 of Prairie du Chien passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at her home. She was born in St. Paul, MN on Feb. 7, 1974, the daughter of Gary and Susan (Hostrawser) Biron. 

Mary lived with her family in Holmen, WI before they moved overseas to Asia, living in both Singapore and Taiwan. Upon returning to Wisconsin at the age of 18, she attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she met Terry Sprosty, whom she married on May 25, 1996, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Onalaska, WI. Together they raised their family in Prairie du Chien.

Mary served as an editor at Courier Press in Prairie du Chien, and later went on to work with the Care Council in Prairie. Mary received her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Therapy and worked as a therapist for Crawford County. 

Mary was formally a member of the Crawford County Master Gardeners. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and most importantly, spending time with her children and family. She is survived by her husband of 27 years Terry; their children Kiersten (Ashen) Rottink and TJ (Olivia) Sprosty, and her fur baby Zeke; parents Gary and Susan Biron; and sister Katy (Marwin) Goff. 

A private family gathering will be held at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien. A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. www.garrityfuneralhome.com.
