Kay Ann (Siems) Bahlmann, 73, of Guttenberg passed away Friday, April 5, 2024.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, at Guttenberg City Cemetery in Guttenberg, conducted by Pastor Mike Ashman.

Kay was born on Aug. 5, 1950, in Nashua, to Benny and Dorthey (Fangmeier) Siems. It was while playing piano for the high school choir where she would catch the eye of Ron Bahlmann. Kay and Ron would later become wed in August of 1970 and from this union would come two children, Megan and Drew.

Music was Kay’s gift to the world. She played the organ for church services and weddings at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa, before becoming the organist and choir director for St. John’s ELCA in Guttenberg. While working as the high school librarian at Guttenberg High School, Kay was often recruited to the music room to play for any number of solos or ensembles. Music was a huge part of her life and she absolutely loved helping others experience the magic and joy of it.

Kay adored her family and friends and will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Ron; children, Megan Bahlmann of Maquoketa, Drew (Danielle) Bahlmann of Sigourney, and her two granddaughters, Ella and Clara Bahlmann of Sigourney.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg is assisting the family and information is available at www.morrisfuneralhomes.com. Memorials may be sent to Morris Funeral Home (in care of the deceased), 207 S. First St., Guttenberg, IA 52052.
