MFL MarMac girls track and field performs well in Waukon, home meets

Brynlee Fritz secured third place in the long jump at last week's meet in Monona.

Breanna Ramsvig crossed the finish line 11th in the 100-meter dash at the April 11 meet.

MFL MarMac girls track and field athletes performed well in meets in Waukon and Monona last week.

 

The Bulldogs totaled 60.5 points in the April 8 meet at Waukon, placing sixth as a team. Waukon took the top spot with 188 points, followed by Sumner-Fredericksburg with 128, North Fayette Valley 83, Decorah 81.5 and Kee 69.

 

Some of MFL MarMac’s best results came in the relays, including second place in the 4x100 thanks to Brynlee Fritz, Hannah Bogdonovich, Emme Wikner and Samantha Ruff. 

 

The group of Lauryn Sandstrom, Skylar Fisk, Addyson Heins and Evelyn Ruff claimed third in the 4x400, and Fritz, Bogdonovich, Wikner and S. Ruff were also third in the sprint medley.

 

The Bulldogs earned a trio of fourth-place finishes in the 4x200, distance medley and shuttle hurdle relays. Breanna Ramsvig, Emma Driscoll, Bogdonovich and Sandstrom made up the 4x200 team, while the distance med was comprised of Bogdonovich, Sandstrom, Wikner and E. Ruff. S. Ruff, Driscoll, Sandstrom and Fisk took on the shuttle hurdle relay.

 

In the individual events, Fritz cruised to sixth place in the 100-meter dash and Ramsvig ninth, while Wikner was seventh in the 200 and Bayleigh Wood 14th. Heins turned in a fourth-place time in the 400, and Brooke Donlon crossed in 10th.

 

E. Ruff and Fisk finished a respective fifth and eighth in the 800-meter run. Donlon battled to fourth place in the 1500, and Audrey Ruff claimed seventh.

 

S. Ruff and Wood represented MFL MarMac in the hurdles, earning eighth and 13th in the 100-meter event.

 

In the field events, Fritz and Heins leapt to seventh and eighth place in the long jump, and Brooklyn Tonn and Ariana Fish went 14th and 15th in the shot put. Tonn also placed 12th in discus.

 

The Bulldogs improved their score by 20 points in the April 11 MFL MarMac Co-Ed Meet—their 80 just behind the 82 from third-place North Crawford. Maquoketa Valley won the meet with 99 points and Edgewood-Colesburg was second with 90.

 

The team total included a slew of top-five finishes in the individual running events. E. Ruff and Fisk crossed the line second and third in the 800-meter run, while Donlon earned second in the 1500 and A. Ruff sixth.

 

Wikner led the sprinters with a second-place run in the 200, followed by Makya Wood in 13th. Driscoll claimed fourth in the 400 and B. Wood seventh. The 100 had Fritz in sixth and Ramsvig 11th. Driscoll also jumped to eighth in the 100-meter hurdles, while B. Wood was 11th.

 

The Bulldogs’ best relay results came in the 4x400 (Sandstrom, Heins, E. Ruff and Fisk) and shuttle hurdle (S. Ruff, B. Wood, Driscoll and Fisk), where they placed second.

 

The 4x100 of Fritz, Wikner, Bogdonovich and S. Ruff was third, as was the sprint medley group of Fritz, S. Ruff, Bogdonovich and Wikner.

 

In the 4x200, Wikner, Bogdonovich, Sandstrom and Ramsvig raced to fourth place. It was another fourth-place effort in the distance medley for Bogdonovich, Sandstrom, Heins and E. Ruff.

 

Fritz led MFL MarMac in the field competitions, with a third-place ranking in the long jump. Ramsvig jumped to sixth. Tonn and Fish were a respective 12th and 15th in the discus, then 14th and 15th in the shot put.

 

Meets were scheduled this week at New Hampton on April 15, Crestwood April 16 and at Kee April 18. They will close out the week on April 19, at North Fayette Valley.
