Bulldog Volleyball prepares for busy week ahead
By Zoey Hyde
MFL MarMac volleyball played one matchup last week. The Bulldogs played JJV, JV, and a Varsity match against Central at home. The Bulldogs fell losing all three sets, but the efforts were not unrequited as there were many good things about their performance.
Despite the 16 errors the team made, the MFL MarMac put up good numbers on offense.
In total the offense put down 22 kills. Avery Lamborn led the offense in kills totaling eight followed by Lily Johnson and Madelyn Keehner who both had six.
Freshman, Addison Corlett, helped the Bulldogs in their efforts by putting big numbers in the assists column. Corlett totaled 19 assists of the teams 21 total assists.
On defense the Bulldogs were only able to stop the Warriors with two blocks. These blocks came from Keehner and Lily Johnson who each totaled one solo block. But the defense was able to counter their weakness in blocking with completing 61 digs.
Lauryn Johnson had 19 of the team’s 61 digs, followed by Kensey Ball and Corlett both totaling nine digs in the matchup against the Warriors.
The Bulldogs efforts can also be seen in the serving column. Out of 68 attempts 40 were successful serves. Corlett and Ball both made 13 attempts to get the ball over the net. Corlett succeeded in 12 of her 13 attempts, and Ball had 10 successful serves.
This matchup prepared the Bulldogs for a busy week with three games. The Bulldogs will face Waukon on Monday, Kee High on Tuesday, and South Winneshiek on Thursday.
