Bulldogs Football keeps their momentum against the Cougars
By Zoey Hyde
MFL MarMac Football continued their winning streak this past Friday against Sumner-Fredericksburg. The Cougars provided a good matchup for the Bulldogs, but they were able to use their momentum from a shutout win against the Falcons last week to win the game 28-15.
The Cougars came out strong in the beginning of the game, and were leading at the end of the first and second quarter. But with the effort of the Bulldogs they secured the lead in the third quarter, and held the Cougars scoreless the whole second half.
Carter Stoddard threw for 110 yards completing eight of his 11 attempts. The Cougars’ Tatum Nuss, was able to pass 133 yards in the game, but his completion percentage fell short of Stoddard’s. Zero of Stoddard’s passes were intercepted and he held a good completion percentage to aid the Bulldogs in their win despite the Cougars performance.
Eli Hanson led the Bulldogs in rushing yards with 146 yards completed in 20 carries. He also led the team in touchdowns as he was seen in the endzone a total of three times.
Hanson is followed by Quinn McGeough in rushing stats completing a total of 105 yards in 16 carries. McGeough also put numbers on the board scoring one touchdown for the Bulldogs.
While there were no points scored on passes the Bulldogs were able to move the ball down the field well. Parker Kuehl led the Bulldogs, moving the ball 45 yards after receiving from Stoddard. This is followed by Brock Hackett who had 22 receiving yards in the game against the Cougars.
While the MFL MarMac offensive provided a good performance, the game was not won without the efforts of their defense.
The defense totaled 43 tackles, four of which were for loss. Austin Schaller led the Bulldogs in tackles totaling eight, with six solo tackles. This is followed by Hanson and Kuehl both with six tackles. Koda Warrington also appeared in the stats with four total tackles, all being solo tackles.
Overall MFL MarMac has been playing dominantley this season following their 2023 performance that led them to the championship game. You can catch the Bulldogs at home next week, October 4, at 7 p.m. against Dike-New Hartford.
