Dani Niehaus – Embrace Mobility, LLC, is now certified in Equine Massage Therapy, Kinesiology Therapy (KT) taping, and is a PEMF practitioner, and has acquired the equipment necessary to provide services to humans, horses, small animals, and livestock. (Photo submitted)

Dani Niehaus of Guttenberg recently attended Equine Massage Therapy and Equine Sports Massage courses through Therasage EMC in Darien, Wisconsin.

This unique certification program teaches methods of applying touch therapy and massage to horses and dogs, evaluating their physical and emotional needs, and any suggested conditioning or exercise programs.

The organization travels all over the United States, training individuals interested in animal massage and other therapy modalities found to be beneficial to animals as well as humans.

Niehaus was searching for a way to honor her closest friend of 28 years, a horse named Camelot which she had bottle-fed when she herself was eight years old. Niehaus grew up with, learned to ride, and recently had to say farewell to her faithful friend as time and age had played their parts on Camelot’s body. She was inspired to find ways to help alleviate the physical pains of aging that horses experience.

While completing the massage courses, Niehaus was introduced to other types of therapies and resources that would not only benefit horses, but other animals and people as well. She received her Equine Massage Therapy Certification and immediately signed up to further her education. She returned to Darien, Wis., with Therasage EMC and began to learn several other therapy modalities

Niehaus returned from this trip with a certification in Kinesiology Therapy (KT) taping. She explained, "KT taping lifts the top layers of the skin and connective tissues away from a damaged muscle, allowing blood cells and lymphatic fluids to move freely enough to cleanse inflamed tissue and assist in cell recovery."

Niehaus also learned about pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) machines during this educational adventure. "These machines influence cellular behavior by inducing electrical changes around and within cells," she noted. "It also improves blood supply and circulation causing an increase in oxygen pressure and cell regeneration. The waves generated can benefit several different systems within the body.”

Another modality Niehaus received education and instruction on was red-light therapy. "The red-light is very effective for skin and surface issues, such as scratches, burns, scrapes, and scars," she noted. "On humans, the red-light can also help with acne, psoriasis, wrinkles, and stretch marks."

Niehaus has acquired the equipment necessary to provide services to humans, horses, small animals, and livestock.

She will also be returning to work with Therasage EMC again in January to complete a Canine Certification course.

Niehaus is exceedingly thankful for the assistance of the Schuster, Mick & Friedmann Law Office, Jamie Blume at the Guttenberg City Office, Jill Herman of Pampered Pets, and Greg and Jill Gage of Therasage EMC. She is also immensely appreciative of the guidance and reassurance from Sadie Hefel. "I couldn’t have done any of this without the Blume girls, Alayna, Mya, and Emma, taking care of my own critters while I was away for the classes. I also appreciate the encouragement and support of my parents, Ron and Audree Niehaus, and my sister and brother-in-law, Nika and Jason Tipsword,” Niehaus concluded in gratitude.
