LaVonne Rodenberg
LaVonne Marie Amanda Rodenberg, 90, of Guttenberg, passed away on Nov. 20, 2024, at Guttenberg Care Center.
Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 24, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. Visitation was before services at the church.
Burial was at Guttenberg City Cemetery.
LaVonne was born to Clarence and Irene (Handke) Schroeder on Aug. 1, 1934, on a farm near Guttenberg. On Aug. 25, 1953, she married the love of her life, Edward William Rodenberg Jr. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. To this union, two children were born, Carla and Bruce.
LaVonne worked at The Eggplant, Utah Electronics, Guttenberg Industries, and the Guttenberg School in the food service department. She enjoyed dancing at Lakeside Ballroom, going out to eat, cleaning her house, tending to her flowers, and reading cookbooks. There wasn’t a repairman or feed salesman that came to the farm that wasn’t offered a meal.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Edward; daughter, Carla Ruegnitz; grandchildren, Chad (Kelly) Ruegnitz, Christa (Ryan) Mohr, Nicole (Daniel) Briggson, Bruce (Fiance, Amber) Rodenberg Jr.; great-grandchildren, Ashton Fangman, Carson Ruegnitz, Maliyah and Jameson Mohr, Deklyn Rodenberg, Adrianna Briggson, and two more on the way; brothers, Hermie (Janet) Schroeder, Lyle (Hollis) Schroeder, Gary (Jennifer) Schroeder, Denny Schroeder; and a sister, Myrna Backes. Family was important to LaVonne, loving her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce (Deb) Rodenberg; son-in-law, Craig Ruegnitz; her parents; parents-in-law, Edward and Louise Rodenberg; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene (Alfred) Bahls; brother-in-law, Harlan Backes; nieces, Darla Brodigan, Marlys Friedlein, Marilyn Svestka; nephews, Scott Schroeder, Robert Rodenberg, Ralph Livingston, Steve Christianson; in-laws, Morris (Delite) Rodenberg, LaVerl (Ilo) Rodenberg, Bob (Judy) Livingston, and Burnette Livingston.
The family would like to thank everyone at St. Croix Hospice, Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg Ambulance, River Living Center, and The Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, for all the great care.
