May 25, 1930–January 10, 2025

Ruth M. Todd, age 94 of Prairie du Chien, passed away Jan. 10, 2025, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Cambridge. 

She was born on May 25, 1930, to Lester and Mildred (Wisdom) Daugherty. Ruth married David Todd on Aug. 3, 1957. 

She proudly served as County Clerk for several terms following in her father’s footsteps. In 1959,  Ruth and Dave opened a retail clothing business downtown called “The Todd Shop” and later added “Todd’s Bridal Shop,” which they operated until 1979. 

She and Dave were active members of the local Lions Club and of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien. 

They enjoyed spending their free time on their houseboat and enjoying time with their family and many great friends. Ruth’s husband Dave preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2015, after 58 years of marriage. 

She is survived by daughters Renee (Jan Thomas) Todd, Leigh (John) Huber, Janice (Jim) Murray, and son David Todd; grandchildren Taylor, Sydney and Cole Huber, Killian and Brogan Murray She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

A private memorial service will be held at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church with inurnment in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. 

A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be on Feb. 22, 2025, from 2:30–4:30 p.m. at Huckleberry’s Restaurant in Prairie du Chien.
