Lou Ann Meyer, 97, of Dubuque, answered God’s call on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at home. 

 

Visitation and funeral service were March 11, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, Dubuque. Rev. Nichole Robson officiated.

 

Lou Ann was born Jan. 22, 1928, in Ridgeway, the daughter of G. Henry and Annette M. (Skadeland) Hovden. She graduated from Decorah High School, and married Milton L. Kapp Jr. on June 18, 1950 at Madison Lutheran Church, Ridgeway. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1977. She married Friedrick Christian Meyer on March 29, 1981 at St. Peter Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2004.

 

Lou Ann was employed as a service representative for Interstate Power, Bell Telephone and the gas company. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. Lou Ann enjoyed travelling, golfing and skiing and was a crossword puzzle enthusiast. She was an avid card player and enjoyed her time at the euchre table. Lou Ann and Milton spent many years at their beloved Indian Isle cabin on the Mississippi River near McGregor. 

 

Lou Ann is survived by two sons, Kevin (Betty) Kapp, of Dubuque, and Neal (Sally) Kapp, of Anaheim, Calif.; a daughter in law, Jean Kapp, of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Alicia) Kapp, of Dubuque, and Melissa (Brent) Culbertson, of East Dubuque, Ill.;  six great-grandchildren, Samuel and Aaron Culbertson and Blair, MaryEllen, Kiefer and Kierin Kapp; and several nieces and a nephew.

 

In addition to both husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Douglas Kapp; her sister, Amy (Loren) Rue; and her brother, Verne (Margurete) Hovden.   

 

Memorials may  be made to the Salvation Army, Samaritan’s Purse and St. Peter Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank the past and present staff at Eagle Pointe Place, where she was a resident for 20 years.
