Five Bulldogs earn Upper Iowa all-conference basketball honors

Five MFL MarMac boys basketball players have achieved Upper Iowa all-conference honors. Parker Kuehl was selected to the first team and Landyn Miene and Carter Lightfoot to the second team, while Brock Hackett and Eli Hanson were honorable mention picks.
Kuehl played in 22 of the Bulldogs’ 23 games his senior season, racking up 393 points—or 17.9 per game—which led the team and tied for fourth in the conference. His 150 field goals were also fourth most among UIC players. Kuehl landed 43 three-point shots, leading MFL MarMac and tied for eighth in the conference, and was one of the UIC’s best from the foul line. His 50 free throws were sixth most in the conference and his 83.3 completion percentage was tops.
Additionally, Kuehl was the UIC runner-up with 76 steals, trailing only teammate Lightfoot. That averaged out to 3.5 per contest. He ranked second on the team with 130 rebounds (5.9 per game) and 72 assists (3.3 per game).
Miene, a senior, was one of MFL MarMac’s top three scorers with 283 points over 23 games—an average of 12.3 per game. He made 59 percent of field goals, a clip that was fifth highest in the UIC, and was seventh with 124 total field goals. Miene got to the free throw line 66 times and made 35, which was ninth most among conference players.
Miene was the Bulldogs’ top rebounder and the fourth best in the UIC, at 124. He grabbed 7.6 per contest. Miene’s 52 blocks were second most in the conference. His stat line also included 31 assists and nine steals.
Junior Lightfoot put up 289 points, or 12.6 per game, in 23 games, landing him second on the team and ninth of all UIC players. He made 46.4 percent of field goals and 36.5 percent of threes, the fourth best rate in the conference. Lightfoot’s 42 threes were second most on the team and tied him for 10th in the UIC. He also performed well from the free throw line, making 15 of 20 foul shots, or 75 percent.
Lightfoot was the UIC’s assists and steals leader with 148 and 83, respectively. That came out to 6.4 assists and 3.6 steals per game. He also collected 88 rebounds and four blocks.
Hackett played in all 23 games his senior season, coming in fourth on the team with 223 points—an average of 9.7 per night. He shot 39.1 percent from the field and 31.9 percent on three-pointers, with his 43 threes tying him for most on the team and eighth most in the UIC. Hackett ranked third among Bulldog players in rebounds with 91, assists with 54 and steals with 34. He blocked three shots.
Hanson, a junior, totaled 137 points over 23 games, coming in at a 38 percent from the field. His 15 threes were fourth most on the team, and he sunk 14 of 22 free throws. Hanson’s stat line also included 90 rebounds, 20 assists, 16 steals and five blocks.
