John E. Du Charme, age 92 of Boscobel, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, April 25, 2025.
He was born on January 10, 1933, son of the late Irving and Edna (Wolters) Du Charme. John married Stella Scott, and they were blessed with four children.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. and the National Guard. John stayed active in his life supporting veterans by serving on the Grant County Veterans Service Commission and as a member of the Boscobel American Legion Post #134 where he served several roles from commander to treasurer over the years.
He spent his professional life as the Administrator for the City of Boscobel for over 25 years and was passionate about making Boscobel a thriving and successful community.
John was an avid outdoorsman who loved river life. He had a passion for fishing and treasured the times spent in the outdoors and with his family. John will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and trusted friend.
He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his children Carol Craig of Wausau, Brian (Tracy) Du Charme of Wausau, and Amy (Barry Buckwalter) Du Charme of Viroqua; grandchildren Chris, Matt, and Jeremy; Jolie Gelhaus, and Cooper Gelhaus; brothers Irving Jr. (Carol) Du Charme and Charles Du Charme; former son-in-law Tim Gelhaus, and many other relatives, and friends.
John was preceded in death by his wife Stella Du Charme, daughter Julie Craig, brother Cliff Du Charme, and sister Delores Cooley.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest at the Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.
