Five players from the Clayton Ridge-Central baseball team have been named Upper Iowa all-conference. Kahne Bolsinger and Max Nuehring were both first team selections and Mason Loan was a second team pick, while Carson Ruegnitz and Seth Kregel received honorable mention nods.
Bolsinger played in 26 games his senior season, earning a .367 batting average—fifth best in the UIC—and .474 on base percentage. He racked up a team-high 29 hits, including a home run, along with 11 walks and 29 stolen bases. The latter was tied for fourth most in the conference. Bolsinger ranked second on the team with 24 runs scored and 15 RBIs.
Nuehring, also a senior, accumulated a .300 average and .495 on base percentage in 26 games. He ranked third among WarEagles with 21 hits, 16 of which were singles and five of them doubles. His 20 walks were a team high. Additionally, Nuehring had 13 stolen bases, 13 RBIs and 21 runs scored, which was third most for CRC.
In eight games—or 29 and two-thirds innings—on the mound, the senior posted a 4-3 record, 4.96 ERA and .204 opponent batting average. He allowed 23 hits, 30 walks and eight hit batters while striking out a team-high 41 hitters.
Freshman Loan fell within the UIC’s top 10 with a .329 batting average, then had a .459 on base percentage. His 26 hits were second most on the team and he walked 11 times and was hit by eight pitches. Loan also netted 11 RBIs in 26 games, scored a team-high 25 runs and tied for second in the conference with 30 stolen bases. As an infielder, Loan boasted a .971 fielding percentage and had only two errors.
Ruegnitz earned a .322 batting average and .452 on base percentage across 23 games, mostly at catcher. The junior stacked up 19 hits—13 singles and six doubles—and drew 10 walks. His stat line included five stolen bases, five runs scored and 14 RBIs, which were third most for the WarEagles. Defensively, Ruegnitz had a .944 fielding percentage, with 58 putouts and only four errors.
Kregel, a junior, appeared in 25 games. His batting average came in at .281 and on base percentage at .432. He totaled 18 hits, including 13 singles, three doubles and two triples, and also drew 10 walks and seven hit by pitches. Kregel had 14 stolen bases, 14 runs scored and a team best 21 RBIs.
In addition to time in the outfield, the junior pitched in five games, or for 14 and one-third innings. He earned a 1-1 record with a 4.88 ERA after allowing 14 hits, 18 walks, seven hit batters and 16 strikeouts.
