MFL MarMac runners do well against a large field at Jesup Invitational

The MFL MarMac cross country teams tested their mettle against runners from over 30 other schools in the Jesup Invitational on Sept. 30. 

 

The varsity girls placed 10th as a team, compiling a score of 260 despite being without two of their top contributors, McKenna Kozelka and Brooke Donlon. Evie Fritz had the top time for the Bulldogs, with a 22:26.8 ranking her 40th in the large field. Charlotte Meyer was a close 42nd, finishing in 22:34.5, while Cora Keehner earned 53rd on a time of 22:54.5. Taryn Moser crossed the finish line 61st with a 23:21.9, then Brooklyn Landt was 86th with a 24:09.6. 

 

MFL MarMac won the JV race, edging Denver by four points. The team did it with a pair of top-10 finishes from Aaliyah Corcoran, who was fifth, and Skylar Fisk in seventh. Corcoran put up a time of 23:47.2 and Fisk a 23:49.3. Emma Koether cruised to 11th, thanks to a time of 24:12.3, followed by Kacie Picha in 13th with a 24:15.6. Samantha Ruff posted a 24:50.6 for 23rd place, then Emma Driscoll was 55th with a 27:08.3 and Lauryn Sandstrom 71st with a 27:34.9, Charlotte Koether and Kaylee Hoth were a respective 74th and 76th with times of 27:38.6 and 27:44.1. 

 

In the boys varsity race, the Bulldogs fielded a full team for the first time in multiple weeks. Trace Moser secured the team’s top time of 20:09.6, placing him 96th. Jude Onken crossed the line 117th with a time of 21:03.8, then Wolfgang Martins-Sabrina took the 128th spot with a 21:50.3. Adian Reynolds posted a 22:03.5 for 132nd place and Payton Schultz was 157th with a 28:58.9.

 

This week, MFL MarMac competed at South Winneshiek on Oct. 7—the final competition before the Upper Iowa Conference meet on Oct. 16.
