Charlotte Meyer was the Bulldogs’ top finisher at the UIC meet. She placed 10th with a time of 20:53.9.
Jude Onken finished 45th at the conference meet, after posting a time of 20:01.2.

With respective 10th- and 20th-place finishes, MFL MarMac cross country runners Charlotte Meyer and Evie Fritz helped the girls varsity team place third at the Upper Iowa Conference meet in Elkader on Oct. 16. Meyer ran the course in 20:53.9, while Fritz did so in 21:54.5.
The top 20 included multiple Bulldogs, as Cora Keehner was 22nd at 22:06.0 and Brooklyn Landt, Taryn Moser and Brooke Donlon filled spots 24 through 26 with respective times of 22:22.4, 22:23.5 and 22:24.6. Samantha Ruff and Skylar Fisk completed the course in nearly identical 23:21.5 and 23:22.5 times, which was good for 37th and 38th, while Emma Koether was 42nd at 23:37.7 and Kacie Picha 46th at 24:01.7. Emma Driscoll posted a time of 26:37.7 for 66th place, and Charlotte Koether was close behind in 68th, at 26:40.7. Lauryn Sandstrom finished 88th at 27:55.8, Kaylee Hoth 92nd at 29:35.4, Jerica Wille 94th at 30:02.8 and Mariah Moser 100th at 33:35.2.
With the addition of Waukon, New Hampton and Crestwood to the Upper Iowa Conference this year, the meet was split into large and small division schools, with MFL MarMac one of six in the large division with those three schools as well as North Fayette Valley and South Winneshiek.
The Bulldogs had a team score of 86, placing them third behind large school conference champion Waukon and runner-up South Winneshiek, who were separated by just four points at 41 and 45.
Central won the small school division and Clayton Ridge was the runner-up.
In the boys race, Trace Moser led the Bulldogs with a time of 19:51.3, ranking him 44th overall. Teammate Jude Onken was right behind him in 45th, after posting a 20:01.2. Adian Reynolds turned in a 21:05.4 for 59th place.
With only three runners, MFL MarMac was unable to field a team score.
Similar to the girls race, Waukon and South Winn went one-two for the large division boys team title, earning respective scores of 31 and 38. Central and Clayton Ridge were also the top two teams in the small division.
The Bulldogs will next compete in the Class 2A state qualifying meet, held Thursday, Oct. 23, at Hickory Grove Golf Course in Oelwein. The girls race will begin at 4 p.m. and the boys at 4:30 p.m.
