A Prairie du Chien man was arrested for fifth offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant, following an incident Monday night, Jan. 2, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.
At 10:30 p.m., the sheriff’s department received a complaint of a possibly-impaired driver who struck a traffic barrier in the parking lot of Kwik Trip in Prairie du Chien. A Crawford County Sheriff’s deputy, who was close when the complaint was received, observed the vehicle operating on Webster Street and South Michigan. When the vehicle pulled into a residence on South Michigan, the deputy made contact with the driver, identifying him as Charles Humbert, 57. Humbert showed signs of impairment and had trouble standing or walking on his own, according to the deputy. After further investigation, Humbert was arrested for OMVI, fifth offense.
The Prairie du Chien Police Department and Crossing Rivers Health assisted in the incident.
