On Saturday, Jan. 2 at approximately 1:27 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a one-vehicle crash on Highway 35 near County Road D in the township of Eastman.  

Robert K. Moberg, 57, McGregor, was operating a 1999 Mercedes Benz southbound on Highway 35 when he lost control of the vehicle due to slippery conditions and crossed into the northbound lane before striking the concrete retaining wall. Moberg was able to regain control of the vehicle and safely maneuver it back to the southbound shoulder of the highway. Moberg’s passenger Cynthia Moberg, 61, McGregor, complained of chest pain at the scene and was transported by Tri State Ambulance to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. Robert Moberg did not appear to have any injuries and the vehicle sustained moderate damage.

On Jan. 3 at 9:17 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a one-vehicle accident with injuries on Highway 61 in Scott Township.

Hannah E. Robertson, 22, Boscobel, was traveling northbound on Highway 61 in a 2004 GMC truck just south of Childs Hollow Road. The truck was negotiating a curve, started to slide on the slippery roadway, slid off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, rolled once and came to rest back on its wheels.  

Robertson and her passenger Tammy L. Brand, 40, Boscobel, were both transported to Boscobel Area Hospital by the Boscobel EMS to be treated for injuries sustained in the accident.

Robertson and Brand were issued citations for failure to fasten seat belts.  

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Fry’s Repair.

Assisting at the scene were the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Crawford County Highway Department.

What could be more amusing than a show full of sarcastic songs, zany dances, hysterical jokes, exaggerated stories and riotous skits put on by your friends, neighbors and local celebrities?

For the second year in a row, the “Fun” Raising Follies, a variety-show fundraiser for the Mississippi River Sculpture Park, will offer a uniquely good time that’s sure to evoke plenty of laughter and side-splitting entertainment. Brought back due to the overwhelming response from last year’s audience of around 400, the Follies will once again be held in the Little Theater at Prairie du Chien High School.

Three performances are scheduled for this weekend: Friday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The “Fun” Raising Follies are presented by the Mississippi River Sculpture Park Board as well as the Prairie du Chien Parks and Recreation Department.

Glen Eugene Cornwell, 80, of Bagley, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at Mayo Health System in La Crosse. 

He was born Oct. 26, 1934 to Frank and Edna (Ridpath) Cornwell in Independence, Iowa. He attended public school in Independence, Iowa.
