Chamber and tourism community room expansion begins


The businesses and individuals involved in the project participated in a groundbreaking ceremony (L-R) Tahra Ferguson, Jon Miles, Mary Antoine, Marc Myhre, Sara Koehn, Chad Abram, Sheri Bowar, Duane Rogers, Carlee Monroe, Logan Coulter, Robert Moses, Jim Hackett, Pete and Paul Langmeier of Top Notch Construction, and Bird Skemp.

A  groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the Travel Wisconsin Welcome Center and Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce office building was held Monday, July 31st.

Parks and Rec Director ruminates on 15 years

Behind the wheel of a red truck, Mike Ulrich, Parks, Recreation and Forestry Director for Prairie du Chien, gave the grand tour of Prairie’s outdoor locations. From Lawler Park through St. Feriole Island all the way to La Riviere Park, Ulrich added to each leg of the journey with stories and history that tracked his (and many others’) contributions to the community’s development.

Audit presented to PDC common council

Prairie du Chien’s Common Council met on Tuesday evening, July 18, to review the results of a city audit conducted for the year ending December 31, 2022. In 2021, the city’s federal expenditures were greater than $750,000, which triggered an additional compliance audit.

United States Senator Tammy Baldwin arrived in Prairie du Chien on Monday, July 24, to acknowledge five million dollars secured in rural development funds to build a new Public Safety Center for the town’s emergency services.
