RSN will get a new name and a new owner looking for a second chance


Isabella Blondin is the new owner of Elkader’s RSN, which will become Rise & Shine Nutrition. She is on a mission to reintroduce healthy living, build relationships in the community and promote positivity. The 107 W. Bridge St. location, which has undergone a remodel, is expected to hold its grand opening on July 23.

July 26 special election will choose Garnavillo council member

Garnavillo voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, July 26, to choose a city council member to fill the position left vacant by the resignation of Val Cromer, who has moved from the community. The term will expire Dec. 31, 2023.

James Leete

James (Jim) Leete passed away, Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, following a lengthy illness. Jim was born April 1, 1946, in Volga City to Don and Lucy (Emerson) Leete. Jim was baptized, received his first holy communion and was confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Volga City. Jim graduated from Central Community High School with the Class of 1964. Jim married Constance (Connie) Erbe on Oct. 14, 1972, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona.
