Private family graveside services for Hilda A. Jach, 91, of Elkader, formerly of Davenport, will be held at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.   Hilda passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at the Kingston Court Care Center, Elkader.

Joseph L. Rothmeyer

Joseph Leonard Rothmeyer, 96, of Monona, passed away at Garden View Place on Feb. 27, 2021. Joe was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Elkader, to Charles and Mary “Mae” (Leonard) Rothmeyer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elkader. He attended the Gooding Country School, rural Monona, through eighth grade.

The Clayton Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) recognized the outstanding conservation efforts of local farm families during its Dec. 3 meeting. This year’s award winners showcase a variety of conservation efforts and each recipient provides an outstanding example of what people can do to protect the natural resources enjoyed in northeast Iowa. The awards program is co-sponsored by the Clayton County Farm Bureau and Clayton County Pheasants Forever.
