Sonja Klocker, 65, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sept. 20, 2020, after a series of continuing health issues.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date when it will be safe for people to gather.

Sonja was born in Dubuque on March 26, 1955, to parents Curt and Wilma Troester of Garnavillo.

Due to COVID-19 concerns there will be a private family service and interment.

Gilda Lavonne Miller, 92, of Colesburg, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2020.

Graveside services were Friday, Sept. 25, at the Brown Cemetery, Colesburg. 

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Gilda was born on Jan. 4, 1928, in Guttenberg, the daughter of Ben and Ona Kulper.

Thalia E. Sadewasser

Thalia Eileen Sadewasser, 63, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020. She battled cancer for the past three years.

A gathering to celebrate her life was held Saturday, Sept. 26, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a time of sharing was led by Rev. Dr. Barrie Tritle.

Kathleen Neylan

On Thursday July 16, 2020, Kathleen Neylan, loving sister and aunt, passed away at the age of 75.

Kathleen was born on Sept. 1, 1944, in Washington, D.C. She spent her formative years in Garnavillo and Elkader. In 1961, she graduated high school from St. Clare’s School in Wisconsin. Kathleen attended the University of Iowa, with a major in literature. She received her undergraduate degree in 1964 and then went on to graduate from the University of Iowa law school in 1967. An early trailblazer, she was one of only three women in her graduating class. In 1967, she passed the Iowa Bar Exam.

Marcus E. Schlueter

Marcus Eugene Schlueter, 92, of Ryan, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. 

Visitation was Friday, Sept. 11, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester and also before services at the funeral home.

Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 12, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan, conducted by Reverend Gabriel Anderson.

Jesse P. Danalewich

Jesse Patrick Danalewich, 70, of rural Elberon, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. 

He was born March 17, 1950, in Berwyn, Ill., the son of John and Mary Danalewich. He married Margie Froehle on Sept. 24, 1988, in Guttenberg. 

Jesse served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked 47 years in floor covering installation, most recently at Appleby and Horn Tile Company in Cedar Rapids.

John W. “Jack” Goebel

John William “Jack” Goebel, 81, of Colesburg passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at home with family by his side, Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020.

Private burial will be at a later date.

Jack was born Oct. 11, 1938, in Luxemburg, the son of Eugene and Helen (Klaus) Goebel. He was raised on his family homestead and was taught the value of hard work at a young age. Jack served in the United States Army National Guard.

Carolyn H. Oberbroeckling, 75, of Guttenberg, completed her earthly journey on Aug. 19, 2020, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

To honor Carolyn’s life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Father Marvin Bries.

Family and friends of Carolyn may visit from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
