Sharon L. Straus

Sharon Lee Straus, 82, passed away on May 17, 2021. Her family was with her. She was born March 11, 1939, in Guttenberg, to Lamar and Luva Chettinger. She grew up on a farm outside of Garber and graduated from Guttenberg High School. She was active in church at St. John Church of Christ. She met and married Harvey Straus in July of 1957. They lived in Cedar Rapids for a short time after they were married and then moved back to Garber.

Carolyn L. Ingham

Carolyn Le Ingham, age 80, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. She was born April 6, 1941, in Fonda, the daughter of Charles and Cecelia (O’Brien) Mason. She attended St. Mary’s Academy, where she graduated in the class of 1959. She later married Ronald Ingham on July 29, 1961, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGregor. They raised their family of four in Georgetown, Ill., then lived in the Madison area for many years where she worked as a sales manager.

Carol M. Jarman

Carol Marie Jarman, 75, of Edgewood, formerly of Strawberry Point, died on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was born on Sept. 1, 1945, at the family farm near Littleport, the daughter of Melvin and Arleene (Gentz) Hakert. Carol attended grade school in Strawberry Point and graduated in 1964 from Central High School in Elkader.

Richard L. Stickler

Richard Lee Stickler, 76, died June 5, 2021, at his home in Monona. He was born on March 21, 1945, to Perl and Ina May (Butler) Stickler in Wolf Lake, Ind. He graduated from Arizona State University in 1969 with a bachelor’s of science in electronic technology with distinction, which he celebrated with a new pair of cowboy boots and a brand new 1969 Chevelle.

Ivan Meisner

Ivan Meisner, 77, of Garnavillo, passed away on May 31, 2021, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Ivan was born on Dec. 11, 1943, in rural Elgin, to Harold and Selma Friederich Meisner. He was baptized and confirmed at the Highland Lutheran Church. He was a current member of St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg.

George H. Wolf

George Henry Wolf, 77, of Osceola, died Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Taylor House in Des Moines. George was born on June 18, 1943, to Don C. Wolf and June (Meyer) Wolf. The first couple years of his life, he and his mother lived with his beloved uncle and aunt, Ray and Ruth Ruegnitz, on their farm near Elkport, while his father Don served in the Army stationed in London, England, during World War II. Also helping take care of him in those early years were his beloved uncle and aunt Glenn and Mildred Stannard of Cedar Rapids. He was lucky also to live near his grandparents, George H. and Emma Meyer and Hank and Olivia Wolf. His grandfather, George H.

Lois Davis

Lois (Klotzbach) Davis was born on April 30, 1936, in her family's home with her grandmother as a midwife. She attended Swede Ridge Rural School, a one-room schoolhouse, through eighth grade. She then attended McGregor High School from ninth to 12th grade. Lois loved basketball and was a strong player in her high school days. She also loved music throughout her life and, even while never really taking any official piano lessons, was known for her time spent at the keys.

Ross M. Cavanagh

Ross Michael Cavanagh Jr., 95, of Lansing, died Thursday, May 13, 2021, at his home in Lansing. The first child of Ross and Marjorie (Miller) Cavanagh, he was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Evanston, Ill. The first 17 years of his life were spent moving between 14 apartments in three Chicago neighborhoods before finally settling in South Shore. After 1935, his summers were spent in the kerosene lit cabin on Squaw Island, on the eastern edge of Lake Duroy and exploring the Elk River in Phillips, Wis.

Isabel Kurth

Isabel Sophie Louise Kurth, 97, of Monona, died Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien, Wis. She was born to John and Lucy (Sass) Sass on Aug. 11, 1923, in Mendon Township, McGregor. Isabel was baptized on Oct. 3, 1923, by Pastor Daugs and confirmed on April 10, 1938 by Rev. Siefekes. She attended Eno Country school in Luana.
