Clarence F. Groth, 97, of rural Elkport, died at MercyOne Hospital in Elkader on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Clarence was born on Sept. 6, 1923, to Susanna Helen (Hoyer) and William Groth on their farm in rural Guttenberg.

Patricia Niehaus, age 89, of Guttenberg, died Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Guttenberg Care Center. She was born the daughter of George and Pearl (Chettinger) Niehaus on Oct. 11, 1931, in Garnavillo.

David P. Edwards

David Paul Edwards, 79, of Midlothian, Va., died Monday, March 15, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family. David was born in Mason City on June 13, 1941 and grew up in Elkader. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the USAF, earning the rank of chief master sergeant. He proudly served his country for 27 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he earned a degree in criminal justice from Indiana University. He enjoyed the next 14 years as a background investigator for Defense Investigative Services. David was a true patriot and was dedicated to God, his country and his family.

Barbara Jeanne Mohning, age 88, of Garnavillo, came to join her heavenly Father on March 10, 2021, at the Elkader Care Center. Barbara was born on Jan. 31, 1933, in Elkader, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Dueringer) Burlingame, the youngest of seven children.

Bette Y. McNamara

Bette Yvonne McNamara, 87, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Born May 14, 1933, in McGregor, to Lucille (Halverson) and Elmer Knapp, she had one sister, Donna Adams. She married Daniel McNamara on Oct. 27, 1953, and they settled in Milton, Wis., where they raised their family and owned and operated the McNamara Rexall Drug Store. She was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church and an active community member.

Keary Joe Keehner, 50, of Luana, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021. Keary was born Aug. 20, 1970, to Robert and Rebecca (Guyer) Keehner in Postville. He graduated from M.F.L. High School and attended Kirkwood Community College, earning his degree as a diesel mechanic.

Pamela K. Haney, 52, of McGregor, passed away peacefully Feb. 24, 2021, after a long illness. The family will have a private service at Big Canoe Lutheran Church in Decorah in the spring.

Private family graveside services for Hilda A. Jach, 91, of Elkader, formerly of Davenport, will be held at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.   Hilda passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at the Kingston Court Care Center, Elkader.

Joseph L. Rothmeyer

Joseph Leonard Rothmeyer, 96, of Monona, passed away at Garden View Place on Feb. 27, 2021. Joe was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Elkader, to Charles and Mary “Mae” (Leonard) Rothmeyer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elkader. He attended the Gooding Country School, rural Monona, through eighth grade.
