Odean Lydia Chunat

 

Odean Lydia Chunat, age 74, of Wauzeka passed away at Gundersen Luthern hospital in La Crosse on Sept. 23, after a brief illness.

Odean was the daughter of Melvin and Cyrina (Zabel) Chunat, both parents preceded her in death.

Odean was a life long resident of Wauzeka. She attended Wauzeka Public school and graduated in 1960. She held dear her memories of her school days, along with her special class mate Carol DuCharme.

Evaline G. (Holliday) Hewitt

 

Evaline G. (Holliday) Hewitt of Menomonie, age 84, passed away Friday September 9, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born July 27, 1932, in Barnum, to Johnethy Blaine and Agnes Ella (Johnston) Holliday. She married Earl D. Hewitt on Dec. 14, 1949, in Prairie du Chien. She worked in retail and restaurant establishments, and with her husband and family on the farms near Sheldon and then Bloomer. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, quilting, knitting and crocheting and annual family trips to South Dakota and Wyoming.

Rev. Janice “Jan” Rose Trautsch McGrath, of Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Thursday, Sept. 15, at the age of 72 years.

Marjorie “Peg” Chunat

 

Marjorie “Peg” Chunat, 94 years, of Prairie du Chien, died Saturday, Sept. 17, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien.

Peg was born July 15, 1922, in Hannibal (Taylor County); the daughter of William C. and Alta (Lemke) Jones. She graduated from Wauzeka High School in 1940. She was married to Gilbert (Gib) Herold and had two sons; they later divorced. On Sept. 29, 1946, she was united in marriage with Orlyn Chunat at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Wauzeka.

Sandra K. “Sandy” Baughman

Sandra K. “Sandy” Baughman, age 73, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center following a four year battle with multiple myeloma. 

She was born Sept. 23, 1942, in Glendale, Calif., the daughter of Henry and Juanita (Williams) Burchfield. 

She married Conrad Baughman on Sept. 2, 1972. Sandy worked at the Metro Theater, Specht’s IGA, J & L Office Equipment and for many years at the Peoples State Bank in Prairie du Chien. She enjoyed bowling and loved to dance.

Robert R. DeMuth, 93, of Dubuque, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Nativity Catholic Church, Dubuque. Friends may greet the family 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque, where   complete arrangements are pending.

Fr. John W. Wambach, S.J.

 

Let us pray in thanksgiving for the life of our brother Fr. John W. Wambach, S.J., who was called to eternal life on Sept. 15. Jack died at St. Camillus, in Wauwatosa. He was eighty-two years old, a Jesuit for sixty-five years, and a priest for fifty-two years.

Freda M.E. Reynolds

 

Freda M.E. Reynolds, age 90, of Richland Center, formerly of Boscobel, died on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Harvest Guest House, in Richland Center.

She was born on April 15, 1926, at Halls Branch, Crawford County, to Joseph and Freda (Adams) Zajicek. She attended school at Reynolds country school, where her future husband William Reynolds also taught school. She graduated from Boscobel High School. She was married on Feb. 6, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Boscobel to William Reynolds, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 2004.

Dorothy Lucille Kasparek

 

Dorothy Lucille Kasparek, 97, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Bluff Haven, Prairie du Chien. 

She was born May 16, 1919 on a farm near Luana, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank and Leta (Rennpage) Nagel. When Dorothy was still very young, her family moved from Iowa to Wisconsin, settling on a farm on Dutch Ridge in Crawford County.

Gilbert E. “Gib” Weber

 

Gilbert E. “Gib” Weber, 86, of Glen Haven passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, after an extended illness. Gib was surrounded by his wife and family at the time of his passing. 

He was born Feb. 24, 1930 in Bloomington, the son of Anton and Frances (Wegmann) Weber. He married Phyllis Wright on June 12, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington. Together he and his wife farmed near Beetown. Gib served on the Beetown Town Board and as a chairman for many years. Gib enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards and deer hunting.
