Shirley A. Mulqueen, 62, of Ferryville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, after a brief illness. 

She was born Feb. 10, 1953 in Roseau, Minn. the daughter of Sylvester and Helen Kukowski. She married Earl Mulqueen in 2003. Shirley worked as a CNA for Prairie Maison Care Center in Prairie du Chien for the past 23 years. 

Derrold Wayne Hartley, 91, of Soldiers Grove, passed away Dec. 25, 2015, at Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua after a short illness.

He was born Dec. 31, 1923, in Richland County to Lloyd and Myrle (Smith) Hartley. On June 8, 1948, he was united in marriage to Ruth Brock in Richland Center.

A life-long farmer, Derrold farmed in Richland and Crawford counties his entire 91 years. He served on many farm related board of directors. He loved his family, friends and his farm. He enjoyed a good practical joke and lunch at the Kickapoo Corners.

Margaret Brandes, 89, of Boscobel passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, at Boscobel Care and Rehab in Boscobel. 

She was born June 28, 1926 in Crawford County, the daughter of Fredrick and Dorothy (Hudson) Sander. She married Henry “Hank” Brandes on Feb. 26, 1949 in Wauzeka.

Joyce Marie Fernette, 80, of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, following a brief illness. 

She was born March 27, 1935 in Prairie du Chien the daughter of Lawrence and Agnes (Gokey) Fernette. She worked as a data processor assistant boss for Farwell Ozman and Kirk Wholesalers in St. Paul, Minn. She later worked for West Publishing in St. Paul until her retirement. She was a member of the Eagles Club Aerie 1502.
